Now, I could've just pulled a Mr. Chi City:
But I didn't feel like bloodying my hands today. Instead, I girded my loins and got a close look at it and saw that it had really cool antenna! So I took some pictures and went to work identifying it.
Check out its three-pronged antenna! This is one bug that definitely reads Vogue Insecta or something because it's definitely Carrie Bradshaw-ing its way through life--its antenna helps it to stay on trend, as The Royal Wedding turned everyone's attention to the wonders of FASCINATORS!
Clearly, I had a diva on my hands. Which is probably why identification took so long. Guys! Online insect dichotomous keys are hard to figure out! But anyways, turns out this totally chic insect is called an Oriental beetle! Or rather, anomala orientalis.
Obvi this divalicious Oriental beetle just wanted to be amongst other divalicious orientals--which is clearly why it came to my room. For evidence, here is a picture of my roommate and me:
Divalicious! Oriental! Basically us + the beetle friend = hot version of the three musketeers.
Which is why I didn't kill it. And instead I trapped it in a cup and threw it out the window.
Moral of the story: Don't kill insects, identify them!
Very helpful! Mine is black and gold and fabulous.
