One purpose of art:
Each one of us is currently living a life. At the same time, in the same moments, we are having different experiences, experiencing different emotions, emotionalizing (that's made up) different situations. And to us, it seems ordinary. Because that's what ordinary is: it's what we do in our lives. What makes things extraordinary is when you juxtapose different versions of ordinary together. When someone stands back, and links together everyone's lives at that one moment.
This is why I love multi-perspective documentaries I think. Also, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. Also, this (although it's more based off of wordplay than an investigation into juxtaposing the ordinary):
